My name is Joan (Joni) Marie Hesselgrave
I am from pink canopy bed,
from ice skates and baseballs.
I am from nature and adventure, from nurture
and overflowing love.
I am from fir trees
who dance in the wind.
I am from novels and volleyballs.
From Joan and Marie,
and from kindness and hard-work.
From determination.
I am from Sunday family gatherings,
from fresh baked bread and homemade soups.
From child-rearing
and from home-building.
From family days spent swimming in the lake with the sand between my toes.
I am from the moments that never stop giving!
